This year, the Expo will feature two disaster simulations (hurricane and earthquake) led by the Charleston Medical Society. These simulations will depict the immediate aftermath of a disaster, a fictionalized mass casualty situation. The simulations will begin at 12:30pm and at 1:30pm.
The Allstate Insurance National Catastrophe Team will also be on hand giving tours of two of their Mobile Claims Units, which are custom designed motor homes that are deployed to meet the needs of Allstate customers affected by catastrophic weather events, wildfires and earthquakes. There will be additional emergency vehicles on hand as well.
Also, meet South Carolina "Disaster Preppers" who will share their expertise on how to prepare your home and family for a disaster.

The purpose of the Hurricane Expo is to raise awareness to the public to have a plan and take steps now to prepare in the event a hurricane threatens the Lowcountry. A huge step in being prepared is having a hurricane kit at home. Through the generosity of many organizations and businesses, 500 FREE hurricane kits, with the retail value of over $30, will be given away.
